Under Armour Curry 4 ‘More Magic’
Release Date: October 7, 2017
Fresh off securing the 2016-17 NBA Championship, the Golden State Warriors traveled to China for the 2017-18 NBA Preseason, facing off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a series of exhibition games. During these matchups, Stephen Curry debuted the Under Armour Curry 4 ‘More Magic’, a vibrant and uniquely designed colorway inspired by the modern cityscape of Shanghai.
One of the most memorable moments from this trip came years later when Jeff Teague, former NBA guard for the Timberwolves, shared a now-viral story on his Club 520 podcast. Teague humorously recalled being thoroughly outplayed by Curry, who torched Minnesota for 40 points, while he himself managed just 10 points in the game. The anecdote highlighted both Curry’s dominance and the lighthearted nature of preseason matchups.
The Curry 4 ‘More Magic’ features a colorful upper inspired by The Bund, Shanghai’s iconic waterfront district, where neon city lights reflect off the Huangpu River. The shoe is completed with an icy blue outsole and bold SC branding on the midsole, making it one of the most visually striking releases in the Curry 4 lineup.
Originally, the ‘More Magic’ was a China-exclusive release, adding to its allure. However, due to high demand, Under Armour later extended availability to select Brand Houses in Boston and Chicago, as well as Shoe Palace in Oakland and Foot Locker in Concord. Despite this expansion, quantities remained extremely limited, with the sneaker officially launching on October 7, 2017.
